Cindy Steckline Johnston began as lead director of the McKinney High School Choirs in 2010. Prior to MHS, she was head choral director at MISD’s Evans Middle School opening that campus in 2004. Under her direction, the Evans Varsity Treble Chorus was a featured honor choir at Texas Music Educators Association Convention in Februrary, 2009. Ms. Johnston is a summa cum laude graduate of West Texas A&M University (formerly West Texas State University) where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education and sang in University Chorale under the directions of the late Dr. Hugh Sanders. Ms. Johnston began teaching with MISD in 1997 after four years of service in Garland and Abilene. In 1999 while at Valley Creek Elementary, she received the Excellence in Teaching Award. As a secondary director, her choirs have consistently received superior ratings at UIL and choral festival events. She is a member of TMEA and TCDA. Ms. Johnston is the single mother of three wonderful young adults, Todd, Bethany, and Seth, all MHS graduates!

Prior to MHS, he was assistant choral director at the Austin Academy for Excellence in Garland ISD for two years. Under his direction, his choirs exclusively earned Sweepstakes ratings at UIL and superior ratings at Hawaiian Falls Choral Festival, including Best in Class. Mr. Lessmann is a graduate of Texas Christian University where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education. During his time at TCU, he participated in various ensembles, including the TCU Concert Chorale and Frog Corps men's chorus. He currently serves as a vocalist in the Dallas Bach Society, the Verdigris Ensemble, and a choral section leader at St. Andrew United Methodist Church of Plano, and is a member of the Texas Choral Directors Association and Texas Music Educators Association.
